01/ Lightweight Concrete

Lighter Structure.
Smarter Strength.

Reducing the dead load of a concrete framework is the main application of structural light weight concrete, which then helps the structural contractor to minimize the size of columns, footings and other load bearing components. In order to achieve comparable strengths as standard weight concrete, structural light weight concrete blends can be built. The same is true for other criteria for mechanical strength and longevity. In structural components, structural light weight concrete gives a more powerful strength-to – weight ratio. In most cases, the slightly increased cost of light weight concrete is offset by a decline in the size of structural parts, a decrease in steel reinforcement and a decrease in concrete thickness, resulting in lower overall costs.

A higher fire-rated concrete framework is supported by structural light weight concrete in buildings. Considering that it offers higher R-values to wall components for enhanced insulation properties, structural light weight concrete often benefits from energy efficiency. The porosity of the light weight aggregate provides a supply of water for the concrete ‘s internal curing, which helps to increase the strength and longevity of the concrete. The need for additional curing is not precluded by this.
